Your Step-by-Step Guide to Joining Idaho BPA

Confirm BPA at Your School

Check with your school’s front office, counselor, or career & technical education department to see if a BPA chapter exists. If you’re in a business, marketing, or technology class, your teacher may already be the advisor. If your school doesn’t have BPA, talk to a teacher about starting one.

Idaho BPA provides training, resources, and support to make it easy. Your teacher can visit our Chapter Management page for details.
I joined BPA to try something new... now I’m leading our chapter and applying to internships I never thought possible.

Connect with Your Chapter Advisor

Once you’ve confirmed your school has BPA, your chapter advisor becomes your main point of contact. They’ll walk you through the membership process, share important deadlines, and explain how your chapter operates.

Your advisor can also introduce you to upcoming activities, competitive events, and leadership opportunities so you can start planning how you want to get involved.
“Every year I encourage my students to join BPA because it connects what we learn in the classroom to real opportunities outside of it.”
Trina Bowen, Advisor

Complete Registration & Pay Dues

After meeting with your advisor, you’ll complete your school’s BPA registration process and pay membership dues. The exact amount varies by school but is kept affordable and includes both state and national membership.

Once registered, you’ll be officially added to your chapter roster and eligible to participate in conferences, competitions, and other BPA events.
“Joining BPA gave me confidence I never had. Now I raise my hand in class, speak up in meetings, and actually enjoy presenting.”
Melissa Hoffman, Student

Explore Your Options

Once you’re a member, your advisor will walk you through the many ways you can participate. You might choose to compete in one of BPA’s 80+ events, run for a leadership position, volunteer in service projects, or attend state and national conferences.

You decide how much to take on because BPA is flexible, allowing you to balance involvement with your other commitments while still gaining valuable experiences.
“If you’re wondering whether BPA is worth your time, the answer is simple: yes. It will pay you back in skills, friendships, and opportunities.”
Teja Indukuri, Student

Get Involved with Your Chapter

Start attending chapter meetings to meet other members, share ideas, and help plan activities. Many chapters host workshops, team-building events, and chapter activities to help members grow both personally and professionally.

This is your chance to connect with peers who share your interests and begin contributing to your chapter’s success.
“I joined BPA thinking it would just look good on applications. What I didn’t expect was how much fun it would be.”
Noah Carter, Student

Attend Your First BPA Event

Your first BPA event could be a BASIC Conference, a regional competition, or a chapter-led activity. These events are a great way to experience BPA in action, meet members from other schools, and start building your professional network.

Showing up and getting involved early helps you feel connected, confident, and ready to take advantage of everything BPA has to offer.
“BPA gave me a reason to push myself. Joining was the turning point for me.”
